Description
Lightweight tallit with traditional striping in subtle, tasteful hues: white with soft blue, azure and silver stripes. Made in Israel, the Bareket Tallit is made of a unique textured wool fabric that won’t slip off your shoulders.
The name “Bareket” is borrowed from the description of the jewels embedded in the Choshen (see Exodus 28:16), and is often translated as “topaz.”
Features fabulous striping woven onto the atara (neckband) and corner squares.

I bought a tallit for my son, wanting one that he could weigh in on and one he can grow into after the Bar Mitzvah. I went back and forth many, many times with a very patient Ben, who took me through the various options, and guided me about colors given we couldn’t see the product in person. He was precise, gave clear examples (e.g. “No, this blue is more like the blue in the American Flag, and that blue is more like faded jeans blue”; “the atara on that tallit looks this way and is different from that one”…etc.) which helped enormously. We were very impressed at the high degree of responsiveness and the interest in having us get exactly what we wanted or expected. He was also great about apprising us of exact details, including checking back when shipping went out and then making sure we received the tallit. We could not be more pleased.

The darker blue has a denim like color, giving this somewhat traditional tallit a modern hue. The silver thread complements the color scheme beautifully. I’m glad I ordered it.

The talit is outstanding! I love the colors and more importantly my hard to impress 13 year old loves the talit colors. The computer photos don’t do it justice. The shades of blue are almost dusty or denim blue with silver trim giving it a youthful finish without compromising the classic look. I actually read the reviews here before making a purchase and found the reviews so helpful. I made a decision based on these reviews and not the photos. I hope this review is helpful too. This talit is really beautiful.

The Bareket is perfect for someone who wants a tallit that is traditional but not too staid. It’s very well made (nice edges!), the texture is soft to the touch, and the colors are gorgeous. I love the contrast of the denim-like blue, bright white, and bit of sparkly silver.
The service was very good. The was one glitch early in the process, but Ben resolved it quickly and graciously.

I didn’t realise that the atara would be so stiff, it makes it a little difficult to keep the talit on. [Note: The atara that comes on the Bareket is not stiff at all. Mr. Rosenberg had us sew on the Geflochtene Atara, which is indeed quite wide and stiff. – Ben’s Tallit Shop]

Ben’s Tallit Shop improved upon this already-very beautiful and eleganttly-designed tallit by customizing with ptil techelet tzitzit. As usual, BTS was a pleasure to deal with and afforded truly excellent service as well as great value. Yasher koach, and todah rabbah. Personally , I would reserve this tallit for Shacharit Shabbat and Yamim Tovim observance because my impression (untested) is that this waffle-weave tallit might be a somewhat less-robust or lighter-duty tallit than some of the other choices BTS offers. Also, be forewarned that if you wear it over a jacket, you might quickly find that you need need to use aset of tallit clips, in which case be very careful about shielding the jaws of those clips (bare metal is apt to be hard on this somewhat delicate weave.) Beyond that, this is a very happy wedding of traditional and modern tallit features. In short I’m really happy with the tallit and with the crisp customization Ben and his colleagues performed at my request. Higly recommended (both the item and, of course, the vendor). L’shalom…
