For many traditional tallit buyers, the various types of black-striped talleisim appear quite similar. To help our customers choose the right traditional wool tallit, here is a brief comparison.

Traditional Black-Striped Tallit Comparison Guide

Traditional Black-Striped Wool Tallit – The time-tested traditional wool tallit design with black striping and satiny white stripes which add an accent between the black stripes. Satiny design on the corner reinforcements. Made by Talitania.

Prima A.A. –  Top quality weave. Comes with a standard white atara. To add a different atara, go to the Tallit Atara page.

Kalil Lightweight – Similar to the Prima A.A. but 30% lighter. Light on your shoulders, folds compact, and narrower, meaning less tallit fabric bunched up on your shoulders.

Modim Ultralight – Standard smooth-weave classic tallit, light on your shoulders, folds compact. Made by Mofet.

Tashbetz – Box weave that resists slipping. Made by Mishkan Hatchelet. Box weave slightly more pronounced than the David Tashbetz. The black-striped Tashbetz has a white atara with a subtle satiny ornamentation; the black-silver Tashbetz has black-silver striping on the atara and corner squares.

David Tashbetz – Box weave designed to reduce slipping. Made by Talitania. Slightly lighter than the Tashbetz.

Arbel – Midnight blue striping. Box weave designed to reduce slipping. Made by Talitania.

Hamefoar – Luxurious textured weave that also resists slipping, but smoother than the Tashbetz. Made by Mishkan Hatchelet.

Hamefoar Prestige – Similar fabric, but slightly heavier than Hamefoar. Comes with lining and side bands which, combined with the slightly heavier fabric, lend Hamefoar Prestige a heftier feel and a very distinguished look. Striping pattern is more solid and thicker. Features ornate double-row fringes.

Shachar Nonslip Tallit – Elegant new tallit made by Mishkan Hatchelet. Unique weaving pattern and double-row fringes.

Mussaf Nonslip Tallit – Slightly lighter weight compared to the Shachar, and a slightly brighter white base color. Made by Mofet.
