    Product Description

Why does the Torah enjoin us regarding techelet? Because techelet resembles sapphire, and the Tablets were made of sapphire, to tell you that as long as Bnei Yisrael gaze upon this techelet they are reminded of what is inscribed on the Tablets and observe the commandments, therefore it is written, ‘And you shall see it [the techelet string] and remember all of the commandments of G-d and you shall do them.’       - Mishnat Rabbi Eliezer, Chap. 14

Hand-spun tzitzit dyed with Murex trunculus by the Ptil Tekhelet Assocation. Authorized dealer.

Which set you choose (Raavad or Rambam) depends on how you plan to tie the tzitzit.

To tie according to the Vilna Gaon, Sefer HaChinuch, Amram Gaon or the Raavad, choose Raavad strings. This set comes with three white strings and one blue string for each corner.

To tie according to the Rambam or the Arizal, choose Rambam strings. This Ptil Tekhelet set comes with three white strings and one half white/half blue string for each corner.

To tie according to the Tosafot, click here.

Type of Strings Used to tie
Rambam Rambam (13 chulyot), Chabad/Arizal, Ben Ish Chai, "Sephardic"

Very happy with my tekhelet. Great service and product. 7 days delivery time to the uk is good but could be better. Will likely buy my next set from here again.

      learned a lot

Posted by Jeff Blumenthal, Chicago, IL on 9th Nov 2016

After 45 years, I was given a new Talit. I decided to get Ptil Tchelet. The tzitzit are as expected. I bought the thick, Rambam. It is not about how they look (although I like the way they look). But rather, I learned a lot during the process, picking which type of tzitzit (Rambam, Raavad, Tosafot) and how to tie them and why. It made the experience well worthwhile, one I will appreciate everytime I put on my Talit.

      deep vibrant blue

Posted by Joe Canter Sevierville, TN. on 3rd Nov 2016

These are really nice Ptil Techelet, the color is very nice and even, they didn't come off on my hands while tying them either. Plenty of length on both sides (dyed side and non-dyed side) after tying. I have and will continue to buy from this site. Very good shipping and communication too.

      Beautiful Ptil Tekhelet

Posted by David W. on 7th Apr 2015

Did an excellent job of tying the tzitzit. Quite knowledgeable of the various customs, and offered good advice. Made it look superb [and according to the Lubavitch custom]. I personally recommend [stepping it up a notch and] purchasing the 1/2 string of Ptil Tekhelet, which is beautiful. Certainly a trustworthy source of tallit katan and tsitsit!

      Excellent Service

Posted by Alexis Kopperman on 15th Sep 2014

Thank you so much for the rapid response to all of my questions and the excellent service I received. The fact that you responded to all of my concerns so quickly and guided me through this purchase was wonderful.. I have given the P'til Techelet as a wedding gift for my Rabbi to put on the new Tallit his bride has given him. B'Shalom

      Mitzvah P'til Techelet

Posted by David S-Y on 14th Apr 2014

Those wishing to fulfill the Mitzvah of P'til Techelet on their Tallit Gadol should consider the Thick Ra'avad strings. They are exceptionally good quality & are helpful for deveikut b'tefillah. Refer also to the discussion on Sephardic tying. This is a major practice in the welcoming of Mashiach, may he be revealed speedily in our days, B"H
