Background Notes
What does the word vasikin mean? The most common usage is in reference to a sunrise Shacharis minyan, often called Neitz HaChamah. Rashi explains that those who are given the nomenclature "vasikin" are "humble people who love the mitzvah" (Brachos 9b).
As explained by the dinonline.org beis hora'ah, "Vasikin are people who start praying Shacharis at the earliest possible moment out of love for the mitzvah, and due to their humility, i.e. Heavenly obligations take precedence over their own needs. The classic example and one of the sources for this conduct: Avraham Avinu when he set out to sacrifice his son (Bereishis 22:3).
