Tallit Katan FAQ

Should I wear wool or cotton?
According to halacha, wool is considered the fabric of choice, but according to the Rema, whose ruling Ashkenazim generally rely on, cotton is also permitted. Both the Vilna Gaon and the Chazon Ish purportedly wore a tzitzit garment made of cotton. Many Sephardic Jews wear only wool because they do not have a tradition to rely on the Rema's ruling.

Is wool hotter?
Most people say so, but some would disagree, in part because wool breathes better and absorbs much less perspiration. Of course if you wear cotton against your skin without an undershirt, having one less layer on makes a difference.

I'm not sure which size I need. Where can I find a sizing table?
There is one sizing system for wool, another for cotton, and still another for t-shirt-style tzitzit. Therefore we provide specific sizing information on each product page. Just go to any tallit katan page and scroll down. You might also find this sizing table helpful.

I follow Lubavitch customs, and I'm not seeing an option for diagonally aligned double holes. Do you have tallit katan garments with diagonal holes?
Only products listed in our Chabad category have Chabad holes.

I would like extra long tzitzit. Is that doable?
Sure. You'll see an option for extra long thick on almost all product pages. Standard thick is approximately 60 cm when tied. Our extra long thick option comes out to approximately 70 cm when tied.

I would like extra thick tzitzit. Is that doable?
Sure. You'll see an option for extra long thick on almost all product pages.

I would like a very specific type of strings (e.g. Valles, Techeiles Chabura, extra thick niputz, etc.), not listed on the product pages, but I see it on in the category for untied string sets. The thing is, I'll need you to tie that on for me. Is that doable?
Sure, but you need a workaround to place such an order. Select the "I don't need tzitzit" option, however, do select one of the tying customs, then add the strings you want to your cart as well.
